Hi, I’m Kate, the founder of Next Step Studio, your supportive guide on the journey from job seeker to career success. With over 16 years of experience working with thousands of job seekers, students, and employers, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people step into their next chapter with clarity and confidence.

My path to creating Next Step Studio has been anything but one-dimensional, and that’s exactly what fuels my approach. I’ve worked across several industries, holding roles in teaching, career coaching, HR, and management, which has given me a deep, real-world understanding of what today’s job market demands. That broad exposure has shaped my ability to support job seekers from every angle —whether they’re just starting, changing careers, or looking to grow with purpose. My Master of Science in Applied Nutrition adds an important layer to this work, allowing me to weave in strategies that boost energy, focus, and confidence through mindset and health, helping people feel their best as they step into what’s next.

I created Next Step Studio to offer more than just resume help or interview tips. I wanted to build a place where job seekers could feel supported both professionally and personally. At the heart of this approach are three core pillars that form this framework: Fuel Your Next Step, focused on energy and nourishment; Balance Your Next Step, designed to support confidence and mental well-being; and Next Step for Moms, a guide for women balancing career and family. Together, these three pillars support the framework of NextStep Studio and inspire the courses I offer.

Next Step Studio is a space where career development and health go hand in hand. Through resources, coaching, and holistic support, I aim to help you thrive not just in your job search, but in your everyday life. Whether you're searching for your first job or making a big career shift, I’m here to help you move forward with purpose, confidence, and the support you deserve.

You’ve got this!

This is not about being the perfect version of yourself. This is about letting go of the stress, finding your rhythm, and finally feeling like yourself again.

Testimonials

“I came to Kate actively pursuing a career transition along a path toward better alignment after going through some intense self-reflection and exploration but still facing continued self-doubt and discouragement. Her holistic approach is uniquely effective and the level of support she offers is top tier. We started with looking at vision and direction. Through her North Star Roadmap, I identified my top 5 career values, translated those values into visions of my ideal workday and environment, and set boundaries with defined non-negotiables. With this vision, I reinforced what truly matters to me and felt the spark I needed to not give up. Kate’s resources are so well organized and thought out with both strategy and wellness in mind to provide you with the most effective support while still acknowledging self-care to avoid that burnout. She is all about meeting you where you are at, which I have always appreciated, and you can tell she is actually invested in this work and wants to see you succeed. She is constantly finding and sharing new jobs for me that actually feel aligned and exciting, so I feel like we are on the exact same page. Kate has also pushed me to go out of my comfort zone with networking, which has allowed me to both grow personally and gain that real knowledge and exposure I need. Although the goal posts have shifted a bit along the journey (as I believe they should) Kate has been there with me every step of the way, and I am excited to see where the rest of our journey will take me.”

“I'm so glad that I found Kate to create an interactive career exploration module for a new internship program that served teens, with and without disabilities, who had limited to no exposure to employment and the world beyond a small rural community in the Southwest. Kate put in a great deal of effort to understand the needs of the teens who would be in the program and worked with me every step of the way to make sure that the emerging product would be effective and merge with the larger internship program. I was delighted with the outcome, found Kate delightful to work with, and would hire her again as the internship program matures along with the teens.”
